On 9 January 2020 Pragmatic Play launched Buffalo King and presented it as its first title of that year. The release describes a 4x6 slot set on the great plains of America, with fearsome wild creatures filling the reels. It is the first of the three games covered on this site, and it is the base from which the later versions were built.
What the release describes
- Buffalo symbols are stacked on the reels, which gives each spin sizeable potential.
- There are 4,096 ways to win.
- Three golden bonus symbols landing together trigger the free spins, which move the action to the plains at night with buffalo charging across the screen.
- The free spins can be retriggered, and a round can reach as many as 100 spins.
- Wild multipliers go up to 5x. The game page lists 2x, 3x and 5x, and notes they stack when several wilds join one winning combination.
- The game page lists an RTP of 96.06% and a bonus trigger of three to six symbols for eight to 100 spins.
The provider's context
The company's chief commercial officer is quoted as calling the game the newest addition to a premium portfolio with varied gameplay, and as pointing to the immersive setting, the bonus feature and the number of ways. We paraphrase this rather than repeat it. The release also states that the provider's slots, bingo, scratchcards and live casino reach operators through one integration.
Why it matters for a player
The original sets out the ideas that later games revisit: a wide spin range in the bonus, retriggers and multipliers on wilds. Its fixed 4,096 ways mean the number of routes stays the same on every spin, unlike the variable counts of the Megaways titles. The 100 free spins figure is a top end, not an expectation, and the sources do not say how often it happens. The 96.06% return is a long-run average, so it cannot tell you what a given session will look like.
